London Mayor Sadiq Khan is planning to introduce the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone for London in 2017. This means that cars registered before 2005 (pre-Euro 4 emissions standards) will be hit with an additional surcharge for driving into Central London. This will cost drivers of these cars an extra £10 per day on top of the standard Congestion Charge.

Mayor Khan will also be extending the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) from Central London to the North and South Circular (for motorcycles, cars and vans) and London Wide for Lorries, Buses and Coaches. This was originally meant to be extended in 2020 but is now being brought forward to 2019.
